Planning what to do on Halloween night? Yaletown will bring together trick or treaters once again on October 31st from around 3:30pm until the children are finished (usually 6:30pm). The Comox-Helmcken Greenway was adopted by City Council in the 1995 Vancouver Greenways Plan (part of the original 14 City Greenways network) and 2002 Downtown Transportation Plan.(page 48 - Parkway - Helmcken and Comox streets)
The Route
The 2002 Downtown Transportation Plan included recommendations approved by Council to guide development of the Greenway along the preferred route alignment of Comox Street and Helmcken Street. This was a result of feedback from the community about the quiet, well treed residential character of Comox Street with its important connections to historic Mole Hill and Nelson Park and Yaletown, Seaside Greenway and False Creek Ferries.
In order to meet the objective of providing a route which is accessible to people from the ages of 8 to 80, the route will split at the intersection of Helmcken and Richards streets. You can choose to continue along Helmcken through historic Yaletown with its sloping brick sidewalks, which can be more challenging to use for people who are less mobile, or follow Richards Street, south to Drake Street, and then south along Drake Street to the Seaside Greenway at False Creek if you're less mobile or cycling.

Located at 1168 Hamilton St. there’s a new restaurant called The Flying Pig, I love the name and the logo, I haven't had a chance to try it, but I heard that they serve an amazing Banana Split and that it is prepared on your table by one of the owners I really want to try it.
I was yesterday the The New Oxford, one of my favourite hangout places in Yaletown. If you love meat, you should go there on Thursdays when the special of the day is Steak and Frites ($13), my favourite. Also, Guinness beer on Thursdays is only $5.
The 4th annual Outdoor Movie Night in David Lam Park is scheduled for August 21st. Once the sun sets, the film will be projected onto a huge 40 foot by 20 foot screen in the park.
Last year's event feature drew thousands of friends and customers into the park. Although David Lam Park will be only partially available due to construction, we expect a great turnout once again for a family-friendly movie!

Celebrating Vancouver’s 125th birthday, the Yaletown Business Improvement Association (YBIA) has commissioned new benches for Yaletown.
Come take a look! The “Rail Benches” are installed along Mainland Street, between Helmcken and Nelson. The benches are created from reclaimed warehouse beams from Yaletown. To tie in Yaletown’s history, the benches were designed to be reminiscent of past Yaletown industries, as a warehouse district and rail yard. The benches installed on June 21st were created by the City of Vancouver’s Manitoba Works Yard. Although primarily fabricated from wood, the craftsmen also incorporated railway steel, railway spikes, and metal washers recovered from the old beams.
