For less than the average price of a 1 bedroom condo in Downtown Vancouver, Buford, Wyoming, was sold at auction this month for $900,000.

Twenty-five bidders signed up for the auction, held online and on-site, of the town with its three-bedroom house, school, gas station and several other buildings.
Buford’s last inhabitant and the owner of the buildings, Don Sammons, 61, told AFP the package went to a Vietnamese man from Ho Chi Minh City.
The winner had to battle it out with bidders from Hong Kong, New York, Florida, Kansas and Wyoming, with the bidding starting at $100,000.
The former railroad stop once was home to about 2,000 people. But they started moving away after train service ended, until the sign at the entrance to town read, “Buford. Population: 1.”
The buyer will get 10 acres of land. Besides the house, a garage, cabin and barn, the property includes a cellphone tower and a parking lot that a trucking company uses to switch trailers at night.
The Buford Trading Post, as the outpost is called, benefits from regular traffic along the I-80 interstate, with Wyoming’s state capital Cheyenne just 30 miles (50 kilometers) to the east, and San Francisco 1,150 miles to the west.
According to Realtor.com this amazing home was previously rented by Asthon Kutcher, after filing for divorce. It is located in Hollywood Hills, and was recently bought by Justin Biber.

What an amazing 2011 was for Luxury Homes in Vancouver West, we saw an increase in sales of about 87.5% or 182 properties compared to 2010. The average days on the market was way down from 66 to 41, but remember this is just an average, numbers tend to be tricky, as most of the sales were in the beginning of the year. Let’s see how 2012 turns out. So far it still very quiet, but that is seasonal, everyone is getting back to work after the holidays.
2011 was a good year for the Luxury Condos, it saw an increase in sales of 20% or 20 condos. The average days on the market was up by 7 days. What do you think will happen for 2012?

6 fewer units compared to November 2010. Average asking and selling price lower than 2010. For December of this year, most likely we will see about half of November sales.
€28,000,000, at today’s exchange rate that would be around $39,300,000 CAD, so that would be the equivalent of buying Vancouver’s most expensive home and a condo in Coal Harbour or Yaletown. Which one would you choose?

High end condos, had the same number of units sold as October 2010, the difference is that prices are higher and days on the market are 22 days longer. If last years are and indication of what’s to come for November and December, we should see a slight increase (1 or 2 extra sales) for November and a huge drop in December. As well as homes I expect a busy season for the end of January and the whole month of February due to Asian Buyers.
July was a good month for Luxury Condos, sales where up, in contrast with Luxury Homes where sales are down by as much as half. It is also a much better month compared to May of this year, that’s when we only saw 5 Luxury Condo sales.
Jason Statham sold his home for $2.7 million in less than a week, then he went shopping and supposedly (haven’t been confirmed) bought Ben Stiller Mansion for around $11.5 million, that’s what I call a nice upgrade.

The French government sold its Hong Kong diplomat’s residence in the highly-sought after Peak district for a staggering HK$580 million (US$74.5 million) in the city’s surging market.
Arnaud Bathelemy, France’s consul-general in Hong Kong and Macau, and now renter, said the decision was part of Paris’s streamlining of its real estate assets, reported the South China Morning Post News.
“The French government is not a speculator, for sure,” Bathelemy said. “But if we can make a good deal, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be as smart as man other people in Hong Kong.”
He explained that the property on 8 Pollock’s Path was sold to Ryoden Development on 3 June and is now being rented back to the French government for HK$250,000 (US$33,100) per month.
The 11,222-square foot property was sold at an average of HK$51,684 (US$6,643) per square foot, making it one of the most expensive sales in the world.
The building sits at the top of the Peak and was made a grade II historic building last year.
Records from the Land Registry show that the French government took possession of the house in 1981 – along with its two-storey consulate general office in Admiralty Building and HK$90 million (US$11.6 million) from Palwell Ltd – in exchange for its previous official residence, Victoria Lodge on Old Peak Road.
